LINCOLN REDS AT NBA BEEF EXPO 2012 - MALVERN
After the Lincoln Red Cattle Society's performance on home ground at Newark in 2011, we were competing away in the NBA Beef Expo 2012 at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.
The Marketing Committee had decided to capitalise on the Jubilee and highlight "traditional British" for the Lincoln Red stand.
In the three pens there was a good looking 18 month old bull from Martin Clough, the Herd that produced the Supreme Champion and record breaking priced bull at Newark in the Spring; in the 2nd pen was a South Devon x Lincoln Red cow and Lincoln Red sired calf, prepared by David Wilkie on behalf of Sir Richard Sutton's Settled Estates and in the 3rd pen were a pair of steers - Lincoln Red x British Blue & Lincoln Red x Limousin - from Michael Read.
Rob & Sue Grace won 1st prize in the Native Sired Steer class and Michael Read collected 2nd prize in the Native Sired Heifer class; with the same beast Michael went on to collect Reserve Native Champion.
Some 16 Small Breeds Society stands were judged by Henry Lewi who was scoring on: the quality of the beasts; visual impact of the stand and on how informative were the displays. The Lincoln Red stand was awarded First Prize; our stand also took First Prize in 2011 at Newark!
In addition to those who took the time and effort to loan and transport the cattle our thanks go to all those Members who fetched and carried and erected such a superb display.
